Ocean Swimming: Crossed the "Tickle" (Bell Island to Beachy Cove, Newfoundland) 5 km in the cold North Atlantic ocean bare-skin without a wet suit. 2017

Competitive Skiing: Skied 42-km Marathons in Stephenville, NL, Winter 2008 and Clarenville, NL, Winter 2007 on skate-skis.


Sailing: Sailed the 15m ketch ‘Siobhan’ across the Atlantic as one of a crew of three over 12 days. 2004

Back-country Skiing: Trekked across Labrador (World-first?)  in sub-Arctic weather over 12 days.  2003

Vacuum tube amplifier: Built the first prototypes tube amplifiers for Aurum Acoustics. 2000


Hiking: Trekked Bylot Island, the Canadian High Arctic. 1999
Kayaking: Paddled the coasts of the Pacific (including Haida Gwaii "the Queen Charlotte Islands" and the Atlantic oceans, and did fast-water rescue training. 1997

Road Biking: Cycled from Edinburgh, Scotland to Exeter, England in the UK.  1995
